Special veneers.
Exclusive and unique.

KING OF EUCALYPTUS.
16,500 m² of perfect Figure.

This unique log is waiting for its buyer(s) at our American daughter company INTERWOOD in Louisville, KY, where they respectfully call this log “King of Eucalyptus”. With a volume of 17m³ and a diameter of an impressive 140cm at the butt, it is certainly not one of the normal representatives of its class. On the contrary, it was the largest (and best!) log that has ever been worked up by our supplier in Portugal.

A WOODEN Gem.
Unique Brown Oak from the French Forests.

About 250 years ago, an oak seedling started to grow in the forest of Darney, a small sleepy village in the middle of the Vosges area in between the cities of Strasbourg and Dijon. At that time, the forest covered about 30,000 hectares, which equals approximately 65,000 acres. After about 35 to 40 years of age, the growing tree saw the soldiers of Napoleon passing by on their way to conquer Russia, not knowing what hardship and deprivations waited for them after being defeated in the end.

Precious FROM THE COLD.
American Walnut at its Best.

This is what all veneer lovers dream of – Walnut in large quantities with the most uniform growth, color and quality possible. In times when this type of wood is becoming a sought-after and correspondingly expensive commodity (in good qualities), this dream usually remains an unfillable wish. Only those who value their partners and suppliers in good and bad times and treat them fairly are given the opportunity to acquire such precious logs – and on top of that “standing” trees, i.e. before they are cut down.

A Rare Treasure.
Brand new Production of Quilted Maple available now.

Brand new production of Quilted Maple available now. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – nowhere is this truer than in the world of veneers. Very different things are considered rare and beautiful by very different people in very different corners of the world. People change, as do tastes and the trends that evolve with them.

Fresh Cut.
American Walnut from Illinois.

The dream of nearly every veneer purchaser is a large amount of one wood species in a preferably consistent growth habit, color and quality. One can increase the chance of reaching this ideality when you get to buy standing timber –that means logs before felling- of a narrowly outlined and small area. In cooperation with one of our best American log suppliers, we managed to do this in the United States for the third time.

Pure Perfection.
3,392m² of Figured Sycamore Veneer of a special kind.

Figured Sycamore is known to be a wood characterised by its seductively shimmering depth and restrained, simple, timeless beauty, but it has been a while even for us that we have seen such an extraordinary log: Exactly 3,392 m² – distributed over two lengths – each individual leaf being simply perfect.

ANCIENT Nobility.
Giant Cedar of Lebanon from Windsor Park.

There are short-lived trends in wood and then there is cedar – looking up to his ceiling in ancient Nineveh more than 4.000 years ago, an Assyrian king would behold massive cedar beams – valued back then for their sturdiness, scent and noble beauty. Much later, in 16th century Venice, the Council of Ten had to use all of their diplomatic cunning to convince the Patriarch of Damascus to allow the felling of one single tree of Lebanese Cedar to build doors for the council’s famed weaponry collection.

Hidden Values.
Giant Sequoia Trees on the American West Coast.

Supposedly, there are people who are left completely unmoved by standing amongst an array of giant Sequoia trees on the American West Coast – fortunately, we have yet to meet one such person in the flesh.

LOCAL BEAUTY.
Perfect Oak from the “neighborhood”.

With an extensive stock of more than 150 species from forty plus countries the things closest and, in a way, most important to you, are sometimes easily forgotten. All the better, then, to have a truly spectacular log right from the neighborhood refresh your memory. As is the case with the enormous Oaktree from Burgsinn that we had introduced on these pages very recently.

MOST EXPENSIVE LOG IN EUROPE.
Part 2: The Processing into Veneer.

As the “most expensive log in Europe”, a Figured Maplelog from France which was purchased for more than 60.000 Euro, had already impressed us in its round form, we now proudly present the finished veneer, which more than fulfilled our expectations.
