Uses
Mainly used for parquet ooring, however, also used as construction wood and for stairways. Even in South America, it is used only seldom for furniture by the veneer industry and thus is only of minor impor- tance for veneers.
Properties
he heartwood is reddish brown with dark stripes, the structure often is irregular and twisted, however, much less distinctive than in Rose- wood.
Machining
Due to the hardness of the wood, chipping can occur during planing and turning.
Seasoning
The wood has to be dried slowly and carefully as it tends to check and warp otherwise.
Finishing
Surface treatment can easily be carried out with all finishes.
