Veneer factory owned by the family for several generations
Since 1951 exquisite logs from all over the world have been processed into veneer and lumber in our veneer plant and sold to customers from all over the world. In our own production facility in Karlstadt we have specialized in high-quality veneer production and have built up a diverse product portfolio consisting of a wide variety of wood species.

At our production site in Karlstadt am Main in Germany logs are still being processed into veneer and lumber today. Through our many years of experience and a conscientious selection of raw materials we ensure the best conditions. These are implemented by modern machinery and qualified employees to a final product with the highest processing quality. Only the best logs ultimately result in a satisfactory end product for our customer. Especially in veneer production it is essential to supply only selected logs to the production process.
For this reason our buyers travel throughout Europe and beyond to inspect the logs personally and on site. Whether oak from the Spessart, Walnut from America or Ziricote from Mexico – our log buyers are on site to determine the quality and growth of the raw wood.
Our veneer assortment
In addition to common wood species such as oak, walnut and cherry we have a total of more than 150 types of wood in various finishes and thicknesses. In addition to sliced veneers we also offer other types of veneer. These include for example burl veneers, which are usually produced as rotary cut veneers or our rough sawn veneers. Lumber from around the world
We also offer a wide range of sawn timber from various species with a focus on American and European species. These are offered by our veneer plant in various thicknesses and dimensions.
As with veneer our special focus is on the production of high quality lumber. We achieve this through modern machinery and a careful drying process. The selection of logs is essential which is why our buyers also inspect and select the logs for lumber production on site.
Sustainability at the Fritz Kohl veneer factory
As an industry that is completely dependent on wood as a raw material it is particularly important for us to protect and pass it on to the next generations. For this reason Veneer factory Fritz Kohl only sources logs from sustainably and responsibly managed forests.
We are also certified by organizations such as the “Forest Stewardship Council®” (FSC) and the “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes ” (PEFC). Furthermore we participate in the due diligence system of DG Timber to implement the EUTR regulations of the European Union. This allows us to guarantee that all the wood we import results from legal sources and responsible, sustainable forestry.
We strive to fully utilize a log in production and achieve the best possible end result. This begins with log selection using only choice logs to turn into veneer – the product that ensures the most economical and effective use of the valuable raw material. All waste generated in the production process is recycled in our veneer plant and converted into process steam which we can use in our production process.
