Fritz Kohl Furnierwerk

A KIND OF MAGIC

Queensland Walnut

They still exist today: the absolute veneer highlights that appear only once in a jubilee year.

Extremely rare single trunks or parts that are unique in quality, dimension or veneer picture and will probably remain so in the future. At Fritz Kohl, we are always on the lookout for the unique, whose procurement and production is always a great challenge.

However, the successful implementation and realization of such a project fascinates and pleases us again and again.

So we are glad and not a little proud to be able to present to you an absolute rarity, as it will not reappear in the next few years, even decades: Queensland Walnut.

Its occurrence is extremely narrowly limited to the mountainous coastal regions of North Queensland, a climatically tropical zone.

The batch of seven large tribes was officially taken by the government in Queensland in accordance with the very strict guidelines of the “Vegetation Management Act” – and so it is already a small miracle that Fritz Kohl got the opportunity to acquire these tribes.

It was even better to note that the quality of the veneers produced also exceeded our high expectations in advance.

Consisting of a total of 50,000 m² of veneer, of which more than half show a perfect regular bar, a trunk with a surface of just 17,000 m² and a perfectly regular bar is the highlight of this extraordinary batch.

Be enchanted by the nature and structure of one of the world’s most valuable and beautiful wood species. And do not be too sad if you have “fallen in love” unhappily. Because this rarity – we are surprised – was blown out of our hands at lightning speed …
