Properties
Bark pockets are very frequently found in Plane Burl. These pockets are considered to be degrading due to the additional necessary pat ching work involved. Generally burled in full. Like in the normal wood, color variations from whitest yellow to wine red are common.
Machining
Sharper tools and slower feed speeds are absolutely essential for machining.
Seasoning
Due to the grain texture drying must be carried out very carefully and slowly.
Finishing
Plane Burl can be surface treated well and easily. Polished surfaces produce the best effect due to the texture.
Jointing
Joints are easy to produce with glue, screws and nails and hold rmly.
